Probably to hide that Ed could be stepping on something while Blake seems to be wearing flats.
Are there full body of Blake on this scene to see if on the rest she is wearing flats? Cause shen she is (ie the boots Serena used to wear) They are about the same high,With Blake still looking a bit tallker though.So for Ed to be taller in that shot. He has to be stepping on something + Blake not on high heels. __________________

At the beginning of the scene she is wearing low heels
 But this BTS shot - from same day/same set - she is wearing flats  So, basically, when we see her feet in the episode she's wearing heels, with a likely possibility that she switched to flats to not tower over Ed.  ETA:  __________________
