Carrie Underwood - Possible Board Closure Discussion: Please Read and Respond! *UPDATE*

Putting up this thread is probably one of the hardest things
I’ve had to do in a long time…

As some of you can probably tell, my work life & real life has become
EXTREMELY busy, and I have not been able to get on the boards to post
every single day, or even every other day, as is required when you
moderate a board.

As you know, Fan Forum requires that we average at least 12 posts per day,
with lower numbers than that leading to warnings and then possible closure
of the board. The last year, due to the global pandemic, post counts have
been suspended. This has been helpful, but with Dani stepping down as
moderator a few weeks ago, I became a solo moderator, and that has been
a little stressful on me & my busy schedule. Also, only game threads are
being posted in, and there is no way I want to keep a board open, just for
game threads. That’s not fair to me, and it’s not fair to Carrie, as she is much
more than just “game threads”, and she should be discussed and admired in
appreciation threads, but if there are no regular posters to do that with me,
then I feel it best that the board should go out voluntarily with dignity & respect
to Carrie.

While I love this board so much, and have devoted a lot of time here, and
had longed to be a moderator here for so long, without a co-mod, it’s just
been too hard & stressful to keep the board going by myself. I’ve only been
a moderator for a short time, but it’s not fair to me to keep on going like this.

If the posting doesn’t pick back up in the next 2 weeks (in more than
just game threads), it might be time to say “good-bye” & say farewell to
Carrie’s board. I do want to hear from you all and to hear your
thoughts on what you would like to see for the future of the board.
Will you miss the board if it closes? What do y’all think? Let me know
and I’ll make a final decision at the end of June.

*UPDATE:
I’m gonna keep the board open for at least one more month, for the month of July, but I will make an official, executive decision by August 5th, when I will be going back to work full-time after summer.

Jessica, I know that it was very difficult for you to post this.

Maybe this will motivate some members to post here on a more regular basis. If not, you've been a terrific moderator here over the years and you've given this board the best chance you could.

I'd hate to see this board close. This makes me really sad to see, however I completely understand. It is hard when you're a solo mod, especially when all you've got are game threads for the most part as the active ones. I've been there & it isn't fun. Then you add in being busy on top of that & it gets a lot harder

. If there were more hours in the day/week I'd try stop by here but I also won't make promises I can't keep. Right now my boards are all I can manage. This board is one of those boards in the back of my mind that I really should get around to posting on unfortunately

Sorry to hear Jessica but if no one posts and their is no real news from Carrie it makes sense to go out on you’re terms rather then be forced to close.

It just seems pointless to keep a board open for just the same 5-6 game threads, and nothing else. I could keep it open in hopes that some new posters would come in eventually, but that’s not guaranteed, and I don’t have the time or patience for that atm. Even if I try to bump some threads up to get a discussion going, some posters are still just gonna post in only the game threads. I appreciate the help, but I don’t really see how that’s significant to keeping a board going…

I never thought I would see the day when this board would close.

Carrie is still keeping busy and there is still lots of news to share of her, but with no one else to discuss it with, what’s the point?

Could you have a posting challenge or listening party or something like that on the board & PM some past posters to invite them to join? It might encourage them back here & you can see if they stick around. Especially given it isn't like Carrie isn't doing things & there is no news. It may be a way to keep things going for now. Not sure if that fits with what time you've got though.

If you're willing to give the board longer than the end of June my work hopefully will ease after next week. Unfortunately we've got a bit of stress as we're going through a process which rates our service (I won't bore you with the long details) but today we got the call to confirm that they'll be coming next week. We've also been short staffed but hopefully that'll be worked out as of Monday too. Once that's over I can at least try to stop by here & help out. Its just the next 1-2 weeks I can't. As I said before, I won't make promises I can't keep, but I can try to help once things settle a bit more for me.

Chelle, I totally understand that you’re busy, too!

I could try a listening party, but honestly, I don’t really have time for anything like that, either!

I’ve been wanting to do another survivor, just a quick one with the tracks from her gospel album. That could potentially help.

I’ll be gone for almost 2 weeks in July, so I thought the end of June would be the best option to make a final decision. I don’t really see the board going farther than that, if there’s no active posting…

Time is such a pain

. With timing being an issue you could try something we did on Kelly where we posted a memory & people tried to find time in that week to rewatch & respond to it. We did it with her Idol performances. It actually was the first time I sat & watched all of them

. But there's so many other things you can do. That way you still get some posts & generate discussion, but there isn't the commitment of having to listen at a set time.

Survivors are good too

If you do decide to keep the board going & need help to set one up let me know & I can take a look next weekend

I respect why you're saying June. I only asked for more time if you'd allow to allow me to see if I can do more than try to help. I don't want to see this board close. Of course the last time it was suggested I posted for a bit & stopped again. So it could happen again. I'm just trying to see of a way to support you & this board to continue. But I can only do so much until Thursday. After that I can put more time & energy into it. That'll only give you one week to judge if my support is enough for you to keep the board going. You might also wish to see if the board can survive with you being away as if it can't do that then it is time to close. Still on your terms.

Maybe I’ll PM Jerry and tell him I can wait until the end of July, but school starts back up, for me, August 6th, so that’ll really be the test, to see if the board can survive through the month of July, and when I’m not able to post as much, once school job starts back.

I might try to put the survivor together by the end of next week, or around the time Carrie’s Live at Ryman DVD comes out.

I’m willing to keep it open for now, especially since my Reality TV board will be merging, so I’ll have some additional help, so I might be able to devote a little more time to this board.

It is great that the merger is going ahead so you don't lose the Reality TV board but also get the help too. I didn't realise you were solo mod on all your boards now until the other day too

That's a shame. You're amazing to do that as it can be hard at times being alone.

Hopefully things pick up here some more & you'll find you'll have more time after the merge
