Fisher confirms Carrie Underwood is having a boy

Following the Nashville Predators' practice on Monday morning, Mike Fisher confirmed that he and his country music superstar wife, Carrie Underwood, are expecting a baby boy in the spring.

During the opening monologue of the Country Music Association Awards telecast on Nov. 5, Brad Paisley said to Underwood, "Carrie, you can't keep me out of this baby's life." To which she replied, "Brad, I don't remember you being there."

Paisley begged his co-host to tell him if she was having a boy or a girl. Underwood then pulled him aside and whispered in his ear what many thought was a joke, but according to Fisher that was the actual reveal.

"She told Brad for the first time on stage," Fisher said. "That was the truth."

Later in the monologue, Underwood was talking about her excitement about welcoming Garth Brooks back to the CMA stage, when Paisley interjected with, "Hey, we could name him Garth!"

Underwood replied to Paisley's gaffe with "What are you doing? What's wrong with you? You gotta be kidding me. You kept that secret for a whole two minutes!"

After official confirmation, the rumors of Paisley's slip being a sham for the show can be laid to rest.

"I think that was the plan all along," Fisher said.
