I decided to take a break from my anthology reading to finish Abarat by Clive Barker. I found out the second book Abarat: Days of Magic, Nights of War is coming out in October, so I'm celebrating by reading the first one.

Just finished The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. It was okay. Interesting idea behind the book, but once you get beyond that and the uniqueness of the structure, the plot and character development was only so-so.
Now I'm reading Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. I like it so far. __________________

I'm having a break from the His Dark Materials trilogy to read a smashing book called The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon, about a boy with Asperger's Syndrome. I've nearly finished it in one afternoon.

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. It's OK so far... his writing style is unique and it takes awhile to get used to...

I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb. It's a large book (over 800 pages) so I hope I can finish it.

I'm currently reading Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevsky - and really enjoying it. It's surprising how relevant it seems despite the fact that it was published in the 19th century - the way that the main character's guilt ridden mind is written is absolutely superb!

I'm currently reading Anne Rice's "The Feast of all Saints". So far so good, but i have a lot to read. There was made for TV movie about it that came on Showtime a coupel of years back. But missed it. So instead I searched hi and low for the this book.
The book is set in 19th-century New Orleans. The book captures lives of the gens de couleur libre, or the Free People of Color caught between the worlds of white privilege and black oppression. |
