We Love a Good Fight: The Action and Adventure Book Appreciation Thread

I looked through all of the pages and didn't see any Action thread! Since I have been reading lots of Action books lately I thought I would start one.

Some of my favorite Action/Adventure writers are:

James Rollins some of his books include Sandstorm, Ice Hunt, Amazonia, and Map of Bones I have read all of his books but Map of Bones since that is still in hard cover. He is great!

MichaelĀ*Crichton books are also really good some of my favorite of his include:

State of Fear, Prey, Timeline, Jurassic Park, Sphere, Congo, and Airframe. I have read all of his books and met him at a book signing.

I also really love Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston some of their books include: Relic, Riptide, Mount Dragon, Thunderhead, The Ice Limit, Cabinet of Curiosities, Still Life with Crows, Brimstone, Dance of Death I have never disliked any of their books. I love these guys! Great writers

I also use to love Clive Cussler but I haven't read his stuff in a while. His Dirk Pitt novels are great? Which books do you like? Reading anything good right now?

Was that based on Dirk Pitt? I didn't know that! I remember thinking it was the same title as one of Clive Cussler books. ooh who was playing Dirk? I should go and buy that book. One of his books I have never read

It was Matthew McConaughey. Was this how you pictured Dirk Pitt?

yup I'm an active person.. (trying to keep On topic ) My downstairs neighbors must hate me! Right now I'm reading Codex by Douglas Preston. The cover has a quote from Ent. Weekly calling it "Raiders of the Lost Ark meets the Amazing Race" I just started it but so far it is really good. This rich old man hides himself and all of his wealth and makes his sons search for it!

Yeah I know.. since we both adore Amazing Race! This one guy in the book is sooo like Rob! He is trying to kill everyone else. I swear Rob and Amber would kill people on that show if they got the chance.

Your avatar could be the boss squirrel since he kind of looks like a mobster.

I used to love action books. David Morrell and Eric Van Lustbader were my favorites. Morrell wrote First Blood which was what the Rambo movie was based on. Lustbader now writes fantasy, but he used to write really great sexy action stories with Asian influences. I never got into Crichton. I did read a couple of his books but I was just never hooked on him as an author.
