Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi #1: After being left for dead, can a teenage girl survive the odds in the wild?

Aria is a teenager in the enclosed city of Reverie. Like all Dwellers, she spends her time with friends in virtual environments, called Realms, accessed through an eyepiece called a Smarteye. Aria enjoys the Realms and the easy life in Reverie. When she is forced out of the pod for a crime she did not commit, she believes her death is imminent. The outside world is known as The Death Shop, with danger in every direction.

As an Outsider, Perry has always known hunger, vicious predators, and violent energy storms from the swirling electrified atmosphere called the Aether. A bit of an outcast even among his hunting tribe, Perry withstands these daily tests with his exceptional abilities, as he is gifted with powerful senses that enable him to scent danger, food and even human emotions.

They come together reluctantly, for Aria must depend on Perry, whom she considers abarbarian, to help her get back to Reverie, while Perry needs Aria to help unravel the mystery of his beloved nephew’s abduction by the Dwellers. Together they embark on a journey challenged as much by their prejudices as by encounters with cannibals and wolves. But to their surprise, Aria and Perry forge an unlikely love - one that will forever change the fate of all who live UNDER THE NEVER SKY

You'll like it. It's a great Dystopian novel. Definitely a favourite.

I went ahead and added this to the book list that my mother sends out for her school. She is the librarian at my old high school so every few months we get to go book shopping. She's always reading the latest YA books and I mentioned this one to her. She had already heard of it thru one of her workshops that she attends, apparently this book was recommended to the other librarians in the area as one to pick up.

Ooh that's great. I'm glad the book is known even though it isn't released yet. Pretty soon though

You do find books which have been anticipated before the release.. and they have been hyped up.

Every few months, the librarians at the schools have meetings where authors come talk to them and new books are recommended. Sometimes books are even released to the them before the general public. Years ago, "Twilight" was handed out to people at these meetings. My mother wasn't there then, but the older librarian that she replaced has a copy of "Twilight" that has a totally different cover and description. It's pretty neat, I honestly figure it's worth something since it's so rare, only so many teachers were given it way before the release date to increase awareness about the book.

Is that supposed to be Perry? Because he sure doesn't look anything like how he was described in the first book.

But it's so rare to see a guy on a YA book cover, so I'm happy for that.
