The Picture Of Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde)
I finished readin this book and I was a bit disappointed. But maybe because I had too high expectations for it. But it's a good book, just not as great as I thought it would be.
But I hate that lorde Henry. He's too boring, annoying and very pretentious. What do you guys think about this book? bb, Samwise __________________

I'm actually reading the book right at this moment, and I'm almost done with it. I think it's an okay book. I thought it was going to be different than what it's really like.

I first wanted to read it because of that movie The Extraordinary League of Gentlemen (or something like). Dorian Gray was an interesting character in the movies. And it really is in the book. But the whole book is kinda boring, I believe because of lorde Henry.
Another point... What did Dorian use to blackmail that guy who disappeared with Basil's body? bb, Samwise __________________

yea that was one of the uestions i asked in class and my teacher said that since supposedly theres this undertone of homosexuality in the book, she said that maybe Dorian and Alan Campbell had some sort of affair and tat Dorian blackmailed him in that if he didnt help him he would put that out into public knowledge and of course at that time it was like a punishable crime to be gay so......but i never felt that it was that...or rather id prefer to think it wasnt that

I'm okay with it, since there's a lot of subtext in the book! Basil was in love with Dorian, someway! bb, Samwise __________________

yea but i found it really funny that in his time oscar wilde was like thrown in jail for the "homosexuality content" in his book and really thats only clearer at the beginning when they say that they felt something wen they touched on the arm and wat not but other than that i didnt really find that undertone to be present, thats JMO tho

Hmm, that's weird, because I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I read it as an independent study for English AP upon the recommendation of one of my teachers. I mostly liked the moral theme that the book presented and the beautiful way in which Oscar Wilde wrote.

I loved the book as well and thought Dorian was bi and that it was consistant through the whole book.
Also didn't he go to jail because of his affair with Lord Alfred Douglas? __________________

BTW I wanted to know what happened to that guy who helped Dorian with Basil's body. I mean... Wilde didn't wrote the reason why Dorian black mailed him!

Well it was illegal to be gay...and Dorian was bi, probably seduced and slept with him or had good evidence that the man was gay.
And yes I meant the author...I've seen the movie Wilde which is based off the biography, but I'm only in the first chapter of it which is why I asked. __________________
