I think Rachel McAdams would be kind of cool as Anita. I can see Megan Fox too but I personally am not a fan of hers.

Just read Skin Trade....dissapointed. I though, hey...a real crime again....but that just desolved. Then maybe i thought if they were gonna make it all sexed up, I might enjoy te pairing....except for all new guys & jailbate.

And the ending? WTF? Seriously? Is LKH even writing this anymore? Or doe she have like a stand in doing it?

So nobody has posted here in over a year, but I figured I might as well post here to see if any fans of LKH are still around.

I just read the first Anita Blake novel and thought it was pretty neat - I thought Anita was a great character and I floved Jean Claude. So my question is the following: A friend of mine told me not to bother with the series cos the rest of the books are terrible so I'd like to know if
a) the series really does become that bad
b) how many books (if any)are still good
c) is there much Jean Claude and JC/Anita in the rest of the books (I love him so much I might read even if the books turn bad for him )

I would say up to book 9, then after that.. they get pretty bad.

I wish LKH would just get her stories stright. Anita Blake is about a hardboiled detective story, with supernatural methos and an interesting pairings. Merry Gentry is fairys and sex for babies.

Its been a few books without an actual plot other then sex for Anita Blake, and now at any given time shes got up to 15-20 guys. Massive, confusing orgies, random pairings, and no detective work.

While Merry Gentry is finaly knocked up, but her steady boyfriends are now helping her fight crime? LKH you've mixed up your storylines here.

I for one am a fan, have been for years. The Anita Blake series paints one of the most interesting supernatural worlds I've ever read. The characters are interesting, exotic, and even real. But stop with all the sex.

Sure, sex is fine with a storyline. But sex shouldn't be the storyline.

And character developement suffers when there are too many new characters. What ever happened to Manny? We haven't seen him since the second book. Or we're getting second hand information on characters. Like A scene with other characters, at Larry's wedding.

We didn't get any info or interaction with Larry. Just hanging out at his wedding. You get a phone call, gotta take a job for Larry his kids being born. The End. Really? Isn't he your friend Anita, shouldn't you....talk to him? Ever?

Instead we get 15-20 male characters all trying to have sex with Anita Blake.

And LKH can't understand why her fans are annoyed.

Sigh, now that my rant has passed. Rachel McAdams for Anita Blake? Shes supposed to be a petite girl with dark hair and eyes, and light skin. How about Michelle Rodriguez?

Didn't the movie fall through? I knew they were planning like TV movies, but I hadn't heard anything in a long time.

Yeah, the movies fell through a couple years ago. And the idea of a tv show. I don't know the reason why. But it might have something to do with the fact that her later books are pretty much porn.

Or that people don't want to seem like their coping Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Even thought the Anita Blake series came first.

Well, they were both book series. Though they do mock Twilight on TVD's. Actually, everyone mocks Twilight.

Hey, does anyone know when Strange Candy is supposed to have happened? I never read it, so I don't know if its before the series or what.
