What a silly rule what is the harm in it?

I have no clue. I wouldn't think anything gross. I wouldn't even call them in-laws. He's her sister's in-law, not Emma's.

I think it was more Emmas idea; teasing Knightley about being a brother and sister type.
He didn't fall in with it. |

I got up to the part where love is admitted. I loved Knightley's dialog

Emma is very mean in that scene. You have to tell me if you think her repenting was sincere.

I liked it. I don't know if I would have compared it with Emma, if I wasn't forewarned.
I feared for her poor jeep. |

EMMA DVD comparisons:
DVD #1- Masterpiece Classic from 1996. Kate Beckinsale as Emma. This is the DVD I own, so I have seen it multiple times. The casting is excellent. Mark Strong was a perfect Knightley. The father was as nervous and overwhelmed as he is in the book. Her sister and husband were a good couple; seemed to care about each other. It ends with a feast and dance at Donwell Abbey. DVD #2 -the new 2020 Emma with Anya Taylor Joy as Emma. I think this is the first time I've seen Anya, but she sure reminded me of someone; trying to think who. In this version, the first time we see Mr. Knightley, he arrives home on a horse, and takes off all of his clothes. The father was too spry. His first appearances at the beginning was coming downstairs to go to Miss Taylors wedding, and he leaped off the stairs. Emmas sister was the nervous one. Emma was holding the baby, and she passed gas, and Isabelle jumped up grabbed her, and screamed to call for the doctor! Her husband just rolls his eyes at her. They didn't seem very agreeable to each other. In this version, Mrs. Weston has a baby girl, Emma gets a nose bleed, she takes a goose to make up with Mr. Martin, and she and Knightley has a kissing session behind a screen. When I finish the book, I will see if all of this is mentioned. |
