Well, I think it's cute that they're supportive of each other.

Besides, I think Ashley just wanted to be with the cast as well. She was pretty isolated from most of them, except for Zac and Lucas, whom she had a lot of scenes with.

I bet she enjoyed hanging around the sets when she wasn't filming. She doesn't seem like the type to stay holed up in her trailer.

We were actually talking about that on the HSM board last week...

For as far as we know, he's only in the Just Wanna Be With You scene (the rehearsal one, when Troy and Gabriella have their paint fight and everyone ends up watching them - he's in shot there).
