I can see them once in awhile going overboard, but most of the time staying in control.

I could see Hyde buying their kid a huge, indulgent stuffed animal after he and Jackie agreed not to do it. Hyde might not be able to help himself (at the beginning).

Yes, they probably would burn him, because that's what they do. Hyde and Jackie would find a way to burn them back though just as bad!

Maybe by buying E/D's kid something s/he wants that E/D said they wouldn't get (because of money/don't want to indulge their kid like that). That would really get to both of them.

A noisemaking toy is exactly what I had in mind. I can see Jackie/Hyde giving them something like that, if they needed to burn them.

Yeah, at a certain age they would tire of those antics, I think. Maybe the kids would unite against the parents.

I keep imagining both J/H and E/D with two kids each (in terms of this convo). So four people vs. four people -- for the greater peace. The kids would have to stay strong and not accept the gifts they get. And maybe the one who has the hardest time doing that might say to his/her parents, "Shouldn't I be rewarded for being so strong?"

And the kid gets a handshake like Eric does from Red in "The Good Son" (1x25).
