gpgenabee, I totally agree. For a shot that's less-than-a-second long, it conveys so much.

Lulu, I find it interesting that in the first dance ("Prom Night," Hyde seemed like he barely wanted to touch Jackie. He keeps his hand completely open instead of closing it around her while they're dancing. Then in the last dance, of course, they're as close as possible, and his hands are on her waist -- yeah, I think he's likes touching her by then.

Random!Zen observation: During season 2's opening credit sequence, Hyde sits in the back between Laurie and Jackie. He and Jackie face each other while singing during both shots. For people who supposedly hate each other... unintentional foreshadowing.

That's not being too obsessive a watcher, is it?

So speaking of close (possibly obsessive) observations of the show, is one of the many (many many many) reasons I don't like Fez/Jackie, was how Fez was trying to get Jackie away from Michael in some of the early seasons. Not that he could be bothered to tell her that Kelso was cheating, but he was trying to get her in seasons 2 and 3, even at times when she was vulnerable. Like when she broke up with Michael after she found out he was cheating on her. Hyde supposedly didn't even like her at that point, and yet he was looking out for her more than this guy who supposedly loved and worshipped her as a goddess. In fact when Jackie tried to kiss Hyde when she was vulnerable, he not only didn't take advantage of her, he tried to make her feel better, and said she was worth more than Kelso treated her. Now granted, it was in his special, back-handed Hyde way, but hey, that's part of who he is to everyone, and part of his charm. And it was still genuine and genuinely trying to make her feel better. And she did feel better, and later they were cute with his getting her a pop and her kissing his cheek. D'awwww.

So that's just my random Zennie thought on how Hyde was better for Jackie than the guy TSTSNBN said was better for her. *pffft* to that.

I love obsessively close watching, it's fun. That's a neat observation, Lisa. And I can only agree with the thing about Hyde being the one to genuinely care unlike Fez.

JonStewart4President, ooh, really nice observations there. Fez's feelings for Jackie ultimately weren't about Jackie but himself. What Jackie could give him (action in the pants), etc. Whereas Hyde (at the time) wasn't attracted to her, but he cared about her because he's genuinely a compassionate person (despite what half of S7 and S8 tried to convince us).

In "Kelso's Serenade," the episode where Jackie tries to kiss Hyde, and he says, "No! Bad, Jackie!" there's a cut part of dialogue where he tells Jackie she's on the rebound, that she's not really interested in him. In the next episode, Hyde tells Fez to back off of Jackie for this very reason. "She's on the rebound." He's totally protective of Jackie because she's vulnerable. That's just who he is.

Oh, Lulu...*steps behind her again* You better go first. I'm gonna hog him. If you're after me, I won't be able to be selfish and do that.



I'm also glad I'm not alone with the close-watching. It's the writer in me. I love details like that.
