Topher/Eric #46: Both Are Star Wars Geeks and Loving It
 

A native of Connecticut, Topher Grace was discovered in 1998 while performing in a high school production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum by That '70s Show producers Bonnie and Terry Turner. A few months later, they asked him to audition for the series. It was his first professional audition, and Grace got the job playing Eric Forman on the brand new sitcom. Although he’d already begun studies at the University of Southern California, he put his schooling on hold for the time being. The show was a hit, and two years later, Grace made his big screen debut in a serious role as a drug user in the hard-hitting Oscar-nominated feature film Traffic (2000). He won a Young Hollywood Award for Breakthrough Performance and shared a Screen Actors Guild Award with the rest of the cast.

His next big role was in Mona Lisa Smile (2003), co-starring with Julia Roberts, Julia Stiles and Kirsten Dunst, then he moved up to leading man status playing Pete Monash, the guy who’s secretly in love with a girl who wins a date with a movie star in Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! (2004).

Next came the Independent film with Laura Linney p.s. which earned Topher a Breakthrough Actor Award. He followed that performance up with the dramedy "In Good Company."

Topher was next seen in Spiderman 3 in 2007, in which he starred as Eddie Brock, whose alter ego is known as the villainous 'Venom'. Since then, his other movies have included Valentine's Day, Predators, HBO's Too Big to Fail, The Double, and 2011's Take Me Home Tonight, which he also wrote and exec produced.

He made his Broadway debut in Paul Weitz's "Lonely I'm Not" in May 2012.

Topher will next be seen on the big screen in October 2012 in Lionsgate's The Big Wedding.

Born in New York City, he currently makes his home in Los Angeles and New York.

I'm all for a reunion if it's written correctly, but season 6-8 make me highly doubtful of that being possible. I won't watch it unless J/H are given their proper reunion or are already reunited. :shrug:

i think the fact that things slowly slid down from s6 onwards culminating in the lowpoint that was s8 ...makes it even more essential to do a reunion show for all the fans out there.

JH fans have been waiting 6 yeare s to see things put right , ED fans were left a bit up in the air as well in the finale , we need to see Mr and Mrs Eric forman and a set of little red headed dumbasses running around...

I just don't believe they'll put things right. :shrug: So I'll stick to fanfic. :lol:

ya, i hear you. well they should use material from fanfic website to create the concep ts for any reunion show planned:)

anyway, im a bit depressed after seeing the trailer ....Topher is soooooo talented, why is in he a supporting role in this movie instead of lead ....what is wrong with hollywood :mad::mad::mad:

but im really worried about him since seeing the trailer ...hes always been thin (but it suited him and added to his hotness / cuteness/ adorableness / okay okay i'll stop)

but in this he looks a bit too thin like he needs to eat ....:confused:

should i start going over to his house with my chicken curry and rice and force feed him till he looks like himself again ....( and the added bonus would be that i stop eating it and lose weight , yay):D

Americans ;) on this board ...please tell us, did this movie have an LA premiere , NY premiere etc ???? There dont seem to be any pictures available at all.

I live in the UK ( uh, im not British though, am an immigrant here like Fez from the same place he's from:D)..... and im pretty sure the movie did not have a London premiere :(.....

the only chance i had to see Topher in recent years was the London premiere of Valentines day...and i couldnt cos i was scheduled to go into have deliver my baby son via c section the next day ! ( i know i know excuses excuses).....Next time !!!

Here are my top 5 questions to ask Topher if he was ever into answering fan questions online .....

1). Over the years during T7S, was your usage of the words 'Milady' , ' My lady' , 'missy' , etc part of the script you got , or were those your improvisations ?

2). Which was your best on-screen kiss according to you ?

3). All EF/DP fans and T7S fans out there - are still in pain about the way your character was portrayed in S7 and S8 - for all the fans, would you do a reunion show if offered that would fix all the mistakes of 2005 and 2006 ?

A follow up question , more a plea actually - please only accept meaty roles that are worthy of your talent in future ! We want you to get the Oscar you deserve before 35 !:D

Still wondering whatever happened to his movie with Tobey Maguire that i saw an ad for.

No mention of it on his IMDB page ....but the new addition there is ....(rumored) voice of venom for the tv animation series - The ultimate spiderman or something like that.

other than that, i think it's only TGMM and The wedding right now.......

He did say in quite a recent interview , dont remember which one, 'there's been a lot of things that didnt work out' or something to that effect ...so i gather there were a few interesting projects in the pipeline that did not materialise.

well , he almost did have one did'nt he right after breaking up with Donna - Eric's depression episode. He looked rakish with the stubble and all :sigh:
