Thanks Jennifer but that's the same version I have. I always thought there was an extended version that last over 10 minutes.

Oh okay, cause it looked like this one was from fox so it was the original version, but I watched it and it was the same as the one I saw on the dvds, so I don't know.

Ok. I was previously told that the DVD version was the extended original cut. Now, I'm all confused.

S7 is definitely my favorite season. But S5 is always close to being my favorite.

How does everyone feel about Donna finally losing her virginity in the final scene? I liked the way they did it. It made it feel special with the right guy. I wouldn't like it as much if it was trashy or in the spur of the moment. I'm glad she had a plan to make it as special as possible.

I hear the SL is what got Larry Mollin and Charles Rosin fired.

classictvfan91 02-15-2011 01:23 AM

Oh really? I didn't know that. I'm confused too.

Yeah it is my favorite season too! Season 5 is a great season as well. :)

I liked the way they did it too, I agree it wouldn't have been as special or romantic if it was just spur of the moment, but the fact that she planned it and everything and surprised him made it really special. :)

Oh wow, really?

Yeah, I read it somewhere. It's in one of these articles but this was the closest I found.

Quote:

Mollin: Yes, that seems right. They should marry. That was always meant to be. That was the big relationship. The last episode I wrote had Donna losing her virginity in the college graduation episode [Episode 7.32, Graduation Day]. I always felt like one of those guys who built the pyramids and you bury yourself inside. You can’t survive after that. ‘Cause I finally did the thing you were never allowed to do: let Tori’s character have sex.

TDW: And that ended up being your last episode!

Mollin: You know, it’s funny. It was kind of endearing for many years. The old man, that’s how he controlled what he considered his daughter. Even though he couldn’t control her in real life because she’d be out there having sex with everybody, he was very concerned about keeping Donna a virgin. And we went with it because it was kind of good; we got lots of good stories out of it. We had lots of “almost”s and stuff. So, at the end, going into it, I went to him and said “Should she go to a priest? How should we play this thing?” and he said “No, just do it.” I always felt pretty good about that scene I wrote there. “How did I get so lucky?” “You waited.” It was kind of nice. It was sweet.

Okay, great! Thanks for sharing! :D

 I read that in Tori's first book indeed, that Aaron couldn't stand seeing his daughter having sex on screen. Thanks for the article Rachel. :D

heyitsrachel 02-16-2011 01:24 AM

Yeah, I think Aaron also had problems with Tori wearing that mermaid outfit.

You're welcome, Priscilla.

To those who haven't read it yet, here are the 3 interviews with Rosin and Mollin that was posted a few months ago. It discusses some of the behind the scenes, characters, problems, the 2 major love triangles, the spinoff, the DVD cut versions, etc.

 Wow, and that wasn't even that bad. Donna always wore pretty exposing clothes actually. And thanks again, excited to read those today. :yay:

I've just finished reading those interviews, and they are very interesting. They definitely told a lot of very honest stuff, lots i had never heard about before, or just parts of it at least.

I couldn't help but laugh at certain parts though, because i can just imagine how Aaron responded, when it came to everything Tori. She told a lot of it in her book too. But i never knew Jamie Walters got fired, just because the audience thought Donna was stupid for being with a guy like Ray. And that Aaron took it like they said that Tori was stupid. Must have been very difficult and embarrasing for her at times, since Tori always said how she just wanted to be treated like everyone else on the show, not as the daughter of. It seems he just couldn't seperate Tori and Donna.

I knew Shannen introduced Tori to the guy who manhandled her a few times, from her book, and that Luke even didn't speak to Tori for a while, because he was mad that she didn't wanna listen to her friends when they warned her and everything. But i never knew that was also one of the reasons why Aaron decided to let Shannen go, only the part about the cast asking him to.

And i didn't know that Jennie didn't like Dalton James (Mark), and Aaron fired him because according to him he was an anti semitic. Or that Jason didn't actually work behind the scenes, for the last seasons. Definitely learned some new stuff. I don't think it's 100% fair though, how they told everything in details on Aaron, without him being able to respond to it, or share his point of view. But overall very interesting, and i loved what they said about the Dy/K scene in the pool, being the hottest scene they ever wrote, and about having such admiration for Jennie, Tori and the others in many ways. And i totally agree on everything they said about the new show, how they messed things up for the original characters/couples. Thank you Rachel, i had a good time reading this. :D

Favourite episode? Any that heavily focused on David/Donna.
Worst episode? "All That Jazz". Like there needed to be an ep dedicated to why Valerie/Kelly hate each other. Really, show? It would've made more sense if they had briefly bonded and connected, but nooooo.
Favourite SL? Anything Valerie. Especially anything that involved her trying to make Kelly miserable. :D
Worst SL? Steve/Kelly recycled hs rumors. Everything about that sl was yuck! A little desperate for fresh drama, weren't we writers?
Favourite character? VALERIE!
Character that annoyed you the most? Kelly.
Favourite couple? David/Donna. Also loved Tom/Valerie and Steve/Clare.
Couple that annoyed you the most? Steve/Clare. Also didn't care much for Brandon/Kelly.
Best romantic scene? A tie between David/Donna reuniting, him surprising her with dinner at the After Dark, and their first time.
Best humorous scene? Prob when Val tried to seduce David so he'd buy her out. Or the "eye-talk" Brandon/Valerie have when he suspects she's seeing Kenny.
Best friendship scene? Prob anything Brandon/Valerie/Steve.
Best angst scene? A tie between Valerie telling her mother about her dad's abuse and her suicide attempt.
Worst scene? Anything Tom/Kelly, Kelly's pregnancy scare, or when she received "Dylan's" telegram.
Favourite quote? Anything out of Val's mouth.
Favourite guest star? Tom.
Least favorite guest star? Maybe Mariah. I initially liked her and how she was a factor in Brandon/Kelly reuniting, but she grates after re-watching.

I wasn't too happy about that but I can't say I was surprised. I think that if he was still producing, Brandon would've at least came back for a few episodes.

Wow thanks for posting those interviews! They are really long though. I don't have time to read them right now.
