There is a sort of sad continuity between those S3 and S5 scenes. Kelly feels so insecure that Dylan would see her as superficial in both. He had to reassure her that his perception of her was not based strictly on her looks in S3, and again in S5. And still, she told him in that S5 scene in such a shy and scared manner that she might start modeling and he might see it as shallow. Like, so what? I find it sad that Kelly cared so much about the opinion of the men she dated and her self-respect depended so much on it. In S3 she saw Dylan as deep and smart, and was scared she was not good enough for him (or as she said, worthy) and that he did not see her as his equal, especially in terms of intellect. I think it was one of the reasons she freaked out when she heard that Andrea read his script before her. Dylan assured her it was not like that and those scenes were beautiful, but I do not think she ever really relaxed about that issue. At least not in S3-5, given that they had a similar scene at his rehab. And she felt the need to prove herself to Brandon too. She had a permanent sense of inadequacy in both relationships, at least in S3-5, and I find it really sad.

Maybe she relaxed more in the later seasons, I am not sure.

I know what you mean. Kelly was very insecure about men only liking her for her looks. She had intelligence too and was afraid they would not see it.

Yeah, she was also afraid that they would see her intelligence, but would think she was not intelligent and sophisticated enough.
