There is a scene in Meeting Mr. Pony after Brenda was held at the gun point and goes to school... very next day, I guess. Not smart. So Steve shows up, asking Brenda how she is and that, "I stopped by the Peach Pit for breakfast and Nat told me about the stick up. I'm blown away." And she says, "Yeah, well, I'm glad I wasn't."

I remember that scene. Brenda was quick with that response.

Yeah. Trying to suppress and hide her feelings with jokes.

There was also a cute moment in that episode that I mentioned in the S2 thread. The gang gathers in the Walsh house to check on Brenda, and when she arrives with Dylan they lie in a really obvious way about playing Scrabble, and when Brenda points out that the words laid out on the board aren't actually words, Steve's all, "Well, yeah, we're playing under special rules. See, every word you make, you lose a point. It's, uh...Reverse Scrabble". It was great. I would say, my favorite joke of his ever.

They knew very well she would not sleep around. Therefore the S4 plotline, when they were spreading rumors about her sleeping with Roy Randolph for the part, was very weird.

That was so weird and that storyline in season four always made me mad.

Steve was such a notorious ****-shamer. He ****-shamed and spread rumors about Kelly in the pilot already, then Donna in One on One, again Kelly in Summer Storm, he admitted something about spreading rumors about her before in Kindness of Strangers, and then Brenda in Truth and Consequences. But it just occurred to me that after that clash with Brenda he NEVER did it again to any woman. Right? I think that was when he finally learned his lesson. There was later S7 revisionist plotline about him being the one who started rumors about Kelly back in high school, but that rumor starting was also prior to this conflict with Brenda. The fight with her was a turning point. He never did it again to anyone, not that I recall.
