I was quite annoyed by both. Brenda/Dylan/Kelly ruined Brenda/Dylan and Brenda/Kelly, and while I did not care about any characters or couples involved in Brandon/Kelly/Dylan, I hated how Kelly was made THAT girl for every guy on the show. And it killed Brenda/Dylan once more, through Dylan's obsession with Kelly. And it killed Brandon/Dylan in a way too.

Me too. And adding in Allison being in love with her made it plain ridiculous by that point. But it went hand-in-hand with her always being considered the most beautiful of the girls and the one who (superficially) had it all so I get it.

How DB were initially intended and built up to be together that season made it easy for me to not take it that seriously. The campiness surrounding his pining/the triangle (cult, past life) helped as well, lol.

I don't know if I'd say it killed them. It definitely tainted them and infected what might have been the most important friendship on the show, but they were also able to pick back up seamlessly. Unlike, Brenda/Kelly who were permanently fractured.

I'd say it did damage them permanently, maybe even more than the girls, since they shared like one nice relaxed scene afterwards (at the end of S5), and that was about it. Everything in S6 was tense and sort of distant, and then there was the end. Traitor Brandon was there for Dylan more than traitor Kelly was there for Brenda, but girls did have more relaxed, sort of natural normal moments after the hell broke loose than these two.
