The Steve factor was...interesting. He seemed to have varied reactions to B/K. I guess it depended on who was writing him, and when.

One of the reasons B/K didn't hook up in S1 was because they were worried about hurting Steve.

But I remember him being strangely excited in S4 when he thought that B/K had an affair.

I agree. I think Steve was still really hung up over Kelly in S1. In S4, he seemed to be getting over her a little bit better. Basically his mood changes all the time. Take 5x01 for example. He was disappointed when he found out that BK hooked up...but wasn't minding much when he was introduced to Valerie.
