To me, it would make sense that she got more free from his pressure as she got older and more independent. Hm.

Right. Insulting to the character is a good term. And she was supposed to be pensative, smart girl.
Then again, it just occurred to me that idealization of their ****ty fathers was an another trait she and Dylan had in common. Dylan idealized Jack a lot after his death. __________________

I think it's sad that they were both forced to grow up so soon. Their fathers did their own thing and expected them to just -survive- without paying any real attention to Dylan and Toni. That's why I can't fault Toni for attempting to leave him behind when she meets Dylan. She needed her dad to realize that his behavior was unacceptable.__________________
