You don't want to say "fanny pack" in the UK, it is quite vulgar

Because I was born in London's East End, which is infamous for the birth of Cockney Rhyming slang and notorious gangsters.

'Er Indoors was an old saying but I don't think it is used that much now
Trouble is short for Trouble and Strife (rhymes as wife)
Dog and Bone (rhymes as phone) but people shorten this by saying "My dog's not working"
Apple and Pears rhymes with Stairs "I'm going down the Apples". Cockney Rhyming slang were used by notorious gangsters very long time ago.
There is a British soap opera called EastEnders based in London's East End.
London East End is like East LA but more grim

Peng, innit, moist, bruv, food etc are Brit urban slang (BTW food in UK urban slang means something else)

A lot of Brit slang or London slang were invented from a extremely popular 80s Britcom called Only Fools And Horses, which ran for 20 years.

Chuffed is basically same as Stoked. I'm chuffed is I'm stoked.

So if anyone doesn't have a Scooby, I can translate it for you.
Scooby Doo is Cockney rhyming slang for clue

Hi everyone

Hope you all had a great XMAS wherever you are. We certainly did with the family yesterday afternoon having traditional Christmas dinner then we decided to go to an Indian restaurant on Christmas night for a wonderful and delicious Indian curry which has now become my favorite food since I came back to London. I'm tired but it was a awesome day we had

Rachel. I had a busy weekend as we traveled up to Birmingham to see friends (not Alabama ) and strolled downtown which was cool. Wifey did some shopping at this huge mall called the Bull Ring then we decided to go to an area called the Balti Triangle which is renown for tonnes of Indian Restaurants where we went to 3 of them and sampled the cuisine - it was an awesome experience - great food!! Have you ever tried Indian food/curry before? It's the No.1 food in the UK (not fish and chips or bangers & mash or roast dinner). Since coming to the UK over 3 years ago, it has now become my favorite meal. Before that, I loved my soul food and Mexican food too. It has been pretty cold and it gets dark around 4pm in the winter which is a bummer as there are only 6-7 hours daylight. Summers have 17 to 18 hours daylight. How is Cali these days?

So did you get up to this weekend?

That sounds like a great trip, Mike! I'm glad you all had a great time! At first, I was thinking Alabama. I think I have tried Indian Curry food before. I vaguely remember it but I think I did. It was raining for about 2 weeks straight here in Cali - which is pretty normal for this time of year. But it's suppose to be sunny for at least the next week.

Yes, I got up this weekend; around 9am my time.

It does rain a bit in Cali around this time but it does depend on where you are in Cali. People have this misconception that Cali is always sunny but it's not always the case - go to San Francisco for a start. I mean LA and San Diego have a lot of sun but it has its fair share of rain too.

Outside India, UK has the best Indian restaurants without a doubt. A bit like LA having the best Mexican restaurants outside Mexico although Texas has some good Mexican restaurants too. Indian curry is huge business here in England whether it's a cheap takeout (or takeaway as they call it in UK), or in London street markets or restaurants all over the UK. Even Chinese food is very popular here too.

One thing to note: when we refer Asian, in USA they are referred to Chinese or Korean but in the UK they refer Asian as someone from Indian subcontinent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh). I made that mistake when I referred Asian as Chinese or Korean here in the UK and they corrected me in saying Asians in the UK are referred to people from the Indian subcontinent. The weird thing is that they are all from the same continent of Asia
