Huge casting news for the highly anticipated movie Independence Day 2 – Sela Ward will be playing the President of the United States! You heard that right, a female president will be featured in the upcoming blockbuster movie. Her character’s name will be President Lanford, according to Deadline. Sela previously worked with the film’s director Roland Emmerich on the movie The Day After Tomorrow. Returning for the film are Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, and Vivica A. Fox along with newcomers to the cast, Liam Hemsworth, Joey King, Maika Monroe, and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

While he's in-between movies, Liam Hemsworth is having some well-deserved down time in Malibu. The 25-year-old Australian actor was spotted on Tuesday in Malibu dressed down but still looking hot to trot. Opting for a navy sweatshirt, black jeans and olive green kicks, the Hunger Games star tried to go incognito in shades and a scruffy beard. Grabbing a healthy smoothie and going for a stroll around the mall, the younger brother of Avengers star Chris Hemsworth looked chilled out and carefree. He perused the stores alone with no sign of ex-fiancée Miley Cyrus, 22, who he is rumoured to be back in contact with. Following Miley's split from boyfriend of five months Patrick Schwarzenegger, 21, the formerly loved up pair are said to have been 'hanging out in Los Angeles together' reports UsWeekly. The Last Song co-stars turned real-life loves are reported to be rekindling their fallen relationship, with Liam remaining single since he and Miley ended their engagement in September 2013. 'They've been hanging out in LA but only a few people know,' an insider told UsWeekly recently. 'Dating could definitely happen. Even while she was dating Patrick - who was the first serious boyfriend following Liam - Miley could not stop reaching out to Liam.' According to the New York Daily News, Miley and Liam were spotted at the Soho House in West Hollywood on April 24 with onlookers telling the gossip site: 'It looked like a date.' However, the Australian star is reportedly cautiously optimistic about getting back with Miley. 'He has rough stories about that relationship, but he always talks about how fun she was to hang out with and their great chemistry,' a Hemsworth insider dished. They filmed the Nicholas Sparks movie The Last Song in June 2009 and their on-screen attraction quickly turned into off-screen dating. Liam asked for her hand in marriage in June 2012, after three years of on-off again courtship. Ultimately their 16-month engagement ended in September 2013. During his single status, Liam has been allegedly romantically linked to actress January Jones and Hunger Games co-star and 'best friend' Jennifer Lawrence. Over a year later, Miley was then seen cuddling up to Arnold Schwarzegger and Maria Shriver's son Patrick in November. Their relationship turned serious pretty rapidly as Miley met his famous family including siblings Katherine, Christina and Christopher within the first few months. Patrick may have caused the break up after photos surfaced of him flirting and doing body shots off of another girl in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on March 15.
