He was educated at Methodist College. While there, he met David Alexander and started songwriting with him. In 2002, they founded Sons of Him and the record label Doorstep Records. He then transferred to the University of Teesside but dropped out and signed up with the Select Model Management agency. He later met actress Keira Knightley and they dated for three years, also working on his acting career. He appeared in Sofia Coppola’s film Marie-Antoinette. He followed it up with a role in the drama Shadows in the Sun in 2009. I saw part 2 yesterday.. I honestly have to say that the acting isn't really that good IMO, I thought it was better in my memory, but I do feel that Dakota (and Jamie) can be much better actors than this

Yeah not Oscar performances but I still love the films. But they jump started things more for him to get more 'oscar' worthy roles.
