Jared in 4.03 "In the Beginning" SPN Episode Discussion
In The Beginning
Oct 2nd 2008 The CW Dean (Jensen Ackles) is transported back in time and is shocked when he lands in Lawrence, Kansas. However, that shock turns to amazement after he runs into a young John Winchester (guest star Matthew Cohen) and Mary (guest star Amy Gumenick) who have just fallen in love. Dean isn't sure why he was sent back so he begins to enjoy the time with his parents and newfound grandfather (guest star Mitch Pileggi, “The X-Files”), who may be hiding a secret that is key to Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean's entire predicament. Steve Boyum directed the episode written by Jeremy Carver. __________________

I can't wait to see this episode. I've seen some stills of John and Mary and oh so pretty. it's no wonder Dean and Sam are so handsome.

Oh yes, I have seen some as well. Though, I'm more curious to the grandfather's story.

Great (amazing) episode, but no Sammy? I'm actually conflicted here. Sammy always gets the short stick on these kinds of episodes. What Is had him be all princessy and cruel to Dean for a while too.
However, young John and Mary rocked. Mary was amazing, had the Buffy thing going on. __________________

I missed Jared, but LOVED this episode. WOW! I thought I wouldn't like it that much from the summary but WOW! I never expected that this was the back story to it all. ...I'm going to miss young Mary and John.

I'm going to need massive amounts of Sam so I can appreciate this better. Heh.

Ya it totally sucked that there was no Sammy but finding out the back story on Mary and all that was actually worth it. I'm glad we finally know why Mary knew the demon that killed her. I can't believe she actually made a deal. It was really interesting though I loved it.
I'm scared for Sammy now because Castiel is already ready to take out Sam if he becomes a problem so Dean better be able to convince Sam to stop what he is doing. __________________

In the other hand, I liked the episode. Jensen was amazing and he made me cry when he was talking to Mary and advising her not to rouse on the day she died. Nat I'm also scared as to what Castiel said in the end. Dean should save Sammy before the angels took over. I just had a lil question, so Castiel said Dean can never alter destiny but then wasn't Dean's information that triggered Mary to want to help her friend who will be visited by the YED? So somehow Dean did have something to do with it? And okay, I figured I'd be honest since everyone has their own view. Overall, I like the episode, I don't love it. First, less Sam. Second, it's like Dean and his angel show. If Dean takes the backseat because Sam is fighting alongside Ruby = bad episode. Oh, when Ruby saved Sam in TM7 wasn't it not the best episode ever? Though, if Dean and Castiel is in one episode trying to figure out things and the angel is helping Dean out. I don't like it. All I'm saying is the show is about two brothers, they should have equal screentime. And in this case, the Sammy stuff can also be explained further so as to stop those freaking people who are already judging him. A friend told me that if Castiel's going to take away the brothers' relationship and Sam's screentime, then she really doesn't want him even on the show. And I agree with her. There.. I said it... /rant over. __________________
