Yeah! And Derek had that in him....he was damaged too but he couldnt see it and choose to get away...silly brain man!

yeah, and i think he believed that he failed himself nad failed her, i feel like as much as derek was confident sometimes, he was still insecure when it came to himself if that makes sense

He was confident in his job, most times...but personally our brainman was a mess and full of insecurities. I dont know if the situation with Addison and Mark trigged that or just reaffirmed an innate feeling of not being enough in Derek...
