Yep, I noticed too back then and I remember I kept rewinding to see if I was seeing things...anyway, I love that scene even if it breaks my heart. I love when he picks up the films and look at them, like getting back on the horse and suck it up because he was a neuro gifted surgeon and shouldnt let that gift pass

Some people called that Hard Love...or something along those lines. Like I love you but in order to do it I will push you hard to do things. I guess it worked because Derek then knew he couldnt hide forever and needed to face his fear to failure.

yeah like tough love, I think she would loved him regardless if he was a surgeon or not .. but i think she needed to give him that little push bc she just has so much faith in him

Right, tough love!!! And yeah, he needed that push. That’s why he begged her then to accept him even if he failed, he needed to know that but then if hse did that, he would have never faced his fear. He wouldnt have go forward.

exactly, I feel like he would have just surrendered, hid from the world, and the only person he'd ever open to again was meredith, and it would have changed him since he wouldn't be doing something that he loves
