She didn't understand a lot of things. She was so good at individual episodes...but arcing a season together...not so much.

so is that why some seasons didn't make sense? I noticed Sera's name was on the exec producer credit at the end of some of the episodes around that time.

Yes. When Eric left, Sera took over as show runner for Seasons 6 and 7. Jeremy Carver took the show over for S8 and S9 (and I'm guessing any future seasons). I thought Sera would be a good fit, she had writen really strong episodes, like houses of the holy....but she just didn't fit as show runner.

she had great instincts for the story at hand but not much for character development

Exactly. And she was a Sammy girl...and it showed. She tried to do EVERYTHING with Sam...and it just became too much. Sure Dean would get the goofy stuff, Cas was completely forgotten about but Sam had all these epic storylines with no payoff.

ikr! she favored Sam but showed lack of respect for Dean Yeah, hate Dean, sure, but don't hate the Winchesters!

Exactly! Since the beginning there were times I wasn't always Sam's biggest fan...but while I had my lack of love for Sam...I still loved the WINCHESTERS! They fit! You can't love one without at least respecting the other on some level! I never got that impression from Sera where Dean was concerned.

Sera was very one-character sided. And how can one be that way and still be able to tell a story, the right way? She can't, and it showed. Season 7 was stupid, not as dumb and irritating as...well...angels, demons and all that business. But yeah, the Levitai...whatever. Totally pointless and Dick Roman, what was that all about?

Could not agree more! Fangirls can choose sides...but as a show runner...you just can't. It's your JOB to be fair and not play favorites. You could tell her dislike for Cas...when we did see him, he was looney toons. The Leviathan were pointless! I mean I can understand the appeal of soulless Sammy. I personally hated the storyline but I can see how it might have been interesting if written the right way...but the Leviathans?

what point were the Levi..whatevers. And the hamburger meat in biggersons. Come on now, that's just beyond disturbing, even for SPN and they know disturbing.

If she can't be object, she shouldn't be writing, much less being in charge of anything. I almost wanted to not watch the episodes because they were so boring.

And the Leviathans killed Bobby!

Yup the Leviathans didn't have a goal really. I never understood that. The only decent thing to come out of that storyline was Purgatory. I was so excited about the Purgatory storyline...and it was dropped. :bawl

Purgatory was so overdone for me I wanted to get back to the fighting ghosts and not deal with angels and demons anymore

I wanted them to get back to business too...but if we had to get flashbacks I would have rathered them be purgatory instead of Sammy and his bitch bad vet. That boy has the worst taste in women.

I get you on that one. A lot happened in purgatory that changed Dean, stuff that's important.

The demon blood thing was just so overrated. And, I think, they did that to change Ruby's character arc from being the good demon to the bad demon
