HP and The Deathly Hallows Book Thread #1 ~ It's now over... but what a ride it was!
Welcome to the Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Book Discussion Thread #1 This thread is in honor of the release on July 21st of the 7th and final book in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series and is for the express purpose of discussing the plot and unfolding story of this amazing journey we've been on for the last 10 years or so... U.S. Edition Book Covers U.S. Edition Book Cover Deluxe U.S. Edition Book Cover U.K. Edition Book Covers: U.K. Children’s Book Cover U.K. Adult Book Cover Book Summary: Inside Flap: Harry has been burdened with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destroying Voldemort’s remaining Horcruxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task he has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety, and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him. In this final, seventh installment of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling unveils in spectacular fashion the answers to the many questions that have been so eagerly awaited. The spellbinding, richly woven narrative, which plunges, twists and turns at a breathtaking pace, confirms the author as a mistress of storytelling, whose books will be read, reread and read again. Back Cover: Harry is waiting in Privet Drive. The Order of the Phoenix is coming to escort him safely away without Voldemort and his supporters knowing – if they can. But what will Harry do then? How can he fulfil the momentous and seemingly impossible task that Professor Dumbledore has left him with? What is in store for all our heroes… and the not-so-good-guys... and everyone in-between... ? The end came and went... it is now... over... But, we can discuss it to our hearts' content! Freely and without reservation!! __________________

Just wanted to let everyone know:
Do not read the article featured in the NY Times about DH today, for it features some (of what I would consider) spoliers. The article is like a book review, so it mentions some key points (like, for example what the "DH" really are. I sadly, was not informed of the spoilers in the article and read some details that I didnt' want to know yet. Just wanted to share this with you all . && Midnight for me as well. And I plan on starting it right when I get it and never stopping until I get to the end. __________________

Thanks for the warning, Mel. That's awful that publications such as The New York Times have done this. I understand Jo was upset about this and left a message on her site. It's unconscienable that a prestigious newspaper like NYT could so completely disregard the expressed wishes of not only Jo but her publishers but HP fans as a whole, they've totally ruined the enjoyment of so many readers of experiencing this final chapter in Harry's story, after waiting for so many years.
I'll be getting the book Saturday morning as well. Hopefully, I'll be done by Sunday. I'm a fast reader by nature but I'd like to take as much time as possible to absorb the whole story and I hope I won't have any unforeseen interruptions either. I've warned my family and friends not to bother me... at all... under no circumstances!!! __________________

i just finished the book.....wow is all i have to say (i'll use spoiler space just to be safe) there is so much i want to say but here's some of it
first of all i can't believe how many people died...i still can't get over fred's death it was so shocking...i felt so bad for george. i couldn't believe that hogwarts reopened and that Snape (SNAPE!!) was the headmaster...i didn't think i was really reading that! i was so happy that ron returned after he left harry and hermione...and that harry and him hugged (loved that part!!). lupin and tonks got married i couldn't believe that either and that they had a baby (it was sad that they had to die. i knew that Snape loved Lily....the memory that harry collected just proved it! the story of the deadly hallows was actually pretty cool and how it related to harry. i still can't believe that voldemort finally died!! it was sad to see hedwig and mad-eye go to...very upsetting. crabbe and colin were kind of a waste of space so didn't mind seeing them go. i couldn't believe that viktor was at the wedding!! it was actually kind funny..... in regards to the epilogue-i knew that harry/ginny and ron/hermione were going to be the couples but its pretty hard accepting it because i don't like those couples. its kinda weird to read about draco nodding at harry. __________________

Well I just finshed reading the book and I'm so glad the trio made it! Chapter 34-35 were so intense, especially with Harry finding out he was going to die. And Snape actually caring about him, I always knew he was one of the good ones
And true, so many people died! Even Hedwig I found the Epilogue a little cheesy, but still it was good. What a fantastic way yo finish the book! Kudos to JK __________________

Yeah, the ending was like something we'd find in fan fiction, you know? But it was still wonderful
Remember how James was saying he saw Teddy kissing 'Victoire'? I think that this Victoire is Bill and Fleur's daughter. Because James was saying that she was his cousin, and the name Victoire just sounds oddly French.. But I wanted to find out what happened to everyone else! Like Luna, what was Luna up to? Had Neville married anyone? Did George continue the Weasley's Wizard Wheezes thing without Fred? Did Charlie marry anyone, is he still working with dragons? Did Hermione go to Australia for her parents (she probably did, but did she tell them what she had done?) And Mr Weasley, was he still working at the Ministry? Who was the new Minister? Is Kreacher still at Grimauld Place? What was going on at Grimmauld Place anyway, 19 years later? What happened to Aberforth, was he still working at the Hog's Head? And Dean, what was he up to? Did Ollivander go back to his shop? Who was this woman Draco had married? What on earth happened to the Dursleys? And Umbridge, was she still doing her dirty work at the Ministry? What about Xenophilius Lovegood? Was Viktor Krum still playing Quidditch? Oh, even though it was the end of the series, and it did answer every single one of my questions... it just gave me a whole bunch of new questions as well! __________________
