What a total, random, meaningless character. 10 bucks says that TPTB will claim at some time in some interview that they had this big plan for Caesar but will say since the audience didn't take well to him, they realized the character simply was not necessary, so they killed him off.

I have the sinking feeling Desmond is soon to be gone or not coming back at all. He was missing from the finale. Was barely seen at all this season. And his story is pretty much wrapped up. That doesn't bode well. Not to mention HIC's personal scandal.

Ilana and Bram need to GTFO asap. Ilana has just arrived and already has a connection to Jacob. Should I care after I've known her for what... 6 episodes? And she's joining the main action in the last season? Um, no. At least Caesar didn't steal any relevant screentime. </bitch>

My personal theory about Desmond still is that he and Penny will end up separated but alive, with Desmond ending up on the island and Penny raising Charlie.
But that was a thought that took residence in my head before we found out what happened (?) with Henry Ian Cusick, I have no idea how that may factor in, or already has factored in.

I think it has been factored in. Desmond has never missed a finale since he joined the show. That's alarming, imo. Also, the time-travel is over (so says Darlton). Where would he fit in for the final season?

I don't know if that means anything or not. When you look at what they were focusing on this season, I couldn't think of much that Des could be involved in, what with being off the island. Looking ahead, his involvement would depend on whether he gets back to the island or not. That's where it seems the action is going to be.

Haven't Henry's issues been known since 2007, if I remember correctly? So they knew about the possible troubles in store for the actor before they started writing S4, and yet they had Mrs. Hawking say that the Island wasn't done with Desmond, and Daniel talk about his "specialty".
I don't know.

Yeah, but it wasn't public knowledge then. It's easier to deal with a scandal in private. When it's out, it's a nightmare.

I'm not exactly a huge Desmond fan so I can't honestly say I care all this much, but I think the writers are forced to give some kind of resolution to his story next year - they planted too many seeds about him being needed on the island in episodes 1-6 of S5 for the audience to forget about it.
