I think she knew from the start that Sampa's ways were a bit to far out of the box. Surprising she didn't catch on Christian was a demon though, doesn't really say much for his personality!

I don't think Sampa really has a pleasing personality anyway, so I doubt it would have won him any favors if we did get to know him more __________________

...which still leaves me wondering how Mary Winchester - a kind and lovely woman as far as we know - could've supported and loved her father this much if he had always been such a dumb person.
