Drive missed the PGA. wishful thinking anyway.
But check out this video. Got a bit of Ryan towards the end there: NWR - Teaser - YouTube |

You are very welcome! And thanks! love seeing Drive in all these lists!
I just have a quick question to anyone who has seen the movie and remember. Remember the scene when he was talking to Irene in the hallway. Did he cry after Irene had slapped him on the face? I was chatting with a friend about the movie and he had told me that he found the fragility in Driver's character very compelling. He pointed out that scene in particular, and the way Ryan delivered the lines. I never really see him in this light. Well odd for sure but comes to think of it there's really much to interpret about this character. Last edited by mooomin; 01-03-2012 at 12:59 PM |

Thanks for the link. I liked the rope of silicon website a lot!
Yeah I am surprised how rewatchable Drive is. I watched it 4 times in the theatres, not only because of Ryan. I have never watched his films more than once in the theatres! I loved how they kept the Driver an enigmatic figure till the very end. I had a long and engaging discussion with my friend. You can really see it a number of different ways and I will have to try and see it in that perspective the next time I watch the film. Does he respond and take pause the way he does because he is cool and calculated? Or does he really hide his emotions because he knows that once he allows himself to do that he can't quite control himself (elevator)? Or that he is more of a sad, pathetic figure that is so emotionally disconnected from the rest of the world, he simply doesn't really know how to communicate? Another thing we talked about was the kiss (and to a lesser extend the holding hands in the car scene). Did it actually happen? Would love to hear your thoughts on the movie if anyone is interested in discussing it in details |

I think the kiss happened -- it was almost like Driver giving himself something he really wanted, that he would probably never be able to actually have again, knowing he was about to go even more off the deep end and into trouble.

I was thinking that FilmDistrict didn't really know what to do with Drive in the beginning of the Awards Season (who can blame them Drive is hardly an Oscar movie). I think the uncertainty and late start may have something to do with Brooks' snub by SAG. Anyway nice to see that they're doing a week run in the arclight theatre. Best way to see experience the movie
And for those who are keeping track of the year end critics' list here're some links with the tally if you guys don't already know: The one with the most, one from metacritic with smaller sampling size and another. And for the kiss, I kind of agree. It was sort of like a parting kiss and in a way serves as distraction. But then again it is a bit out of character and the lights did romantically dim. I have been second guessing if some of the things that happened in the movies were real or not (I think Ryan mentioned in a interview saying Driver believed he's in the movies, so one could assume he has an active imagination) Great scene nonetheless! Drive (Beth Mickle) got a mentioned by the Art Director's Guild btw! Congrats! Last edited by mooomin; 01-05-2012 at 02:19 PM |
