Rachel McAdams - Rachel's Role (Voice) in "The Little Prince" Discussion/Spoilers #1

Information

THR reported in June 2013 that James Franco, Rachel McAdams, Jeff Bridges, Benicio Del Toro, Mackenzie Foy and Paul Giamatti are on board to voice characters in a big-screen take on The Little Prince, the classic French novella by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. Marion Cotillard is also offered a part. Mark Osborne, who directed Kung Fu Panda, is helming the project, which is being produced by Onyx Films’ Aton Soumache -- who produced the stylish 2006 animated film Renaissance -- and Dimitri Rassam.

Characters

Bridges will reportedly voice the pilot, and Cotillard has the offer to voice the part of a rose.

Triva& Fun Facts

• This is the first time Rachel is voicing an animated movie character.
• Rachel is expected to start voice-over in New York in the week of June 17, 2013.

I still hope she will do voice-over for the rose character, but I guess Marion is also a good fit for that

You know I didn’t. We didn’t have it on our curriculum here. I think someone gave it to me when I was shooting in Los Angeles. I remember that’s where I first read it. It’s kind of an updated version. Mark Osborne is directed it, who did Kung Fu Panda, and it’s being done with the estate’s permission so the family is, I guess he had a huge family, so they are all very involved in it’s progression and signing off on the direction it’s going in. I didn’t realize it’s been translated in like 250 languages and how big it is. Especially in Japan too, it’s huge [laughs].

Not sure how I feel about the updated version, but on the other hand: The original version is not that long enough for a full feature animated movie. And that could maybe also mean, that Rachel's part is bigger

that is such a badass cast. and this is such an oscar bait movie. i hope the directing/script doesn't flop and it's still ~critically acclaimed~ worthy

I'm actually still hoping Rachel will be the rose but I guess Marion has the perfect voice for that so I wouldn't mind if Rachel is the other flower character. So I'm with you Jord.

Rachel said herself that voice-over production is suppose to start in New York this week, so hopefully they will announce the official cast + characters soon

She is still in Toronto, so I'm not sure what's going on right now. Maybe she is doing her voice-over in Toronto? Or maybe it got pushed back again?

Written by: Irene Brignull (script editor on 'Shakespeare in Love', and screenplay writer for the upcoming stop motion film The Boxtrolls)

Character design by: Peter DeSève (Finding Nemo, Monster's Inc. Mulan, the 'Ice Age' franchise)

Production Design by: Lou Romano (The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Up, and also voiced characters in both Ratatouille and Cars).

Additionally, Lou was involved in the visual development of Paperman, the adorably cute animated short film from Disney, which won an Oscar earlier this year. If you haven't seen it before, it is definitely worth the look!

Quite some talent there!

It is stressing me out that she isn't in New York like she said. But wow! Thanks for all that info, Nick, what a great group of people! And I completely agree, Paperman was perfect.
