If you guys can, you should totally listen to the Good Place podcast! It's amazing and the way they talk about Eleanor and Chidi relationship as well as the chemistry between Kristen and William is incredible to listen to.

Kristen was the one who selected William Jackson Harper.

They saw a lot of decent guys but William Harper Jackson was the one that stuck out to Kristen and everyone else agreed with her.

Ted Dawson ships them a lot as well.

He was gushing about them in the podcast, even saying that Dax needs to be worried. lol
