An extraordinary but unscrupulous management consultant, Marty is gifted at identifying, and exploiting, the weaknesses of clients to get them to sign on the dotted line. From textbook psychology mind-tricks to the fine art of bull****ting, Marty is a master at shilling undecipherable biz-school jargon and flattering corporate honchos. He is offensive, egotistical, narcissistic, womanizing, crafty, ruthless and very "un-PC," all of which make him very good at his job. But despite his brash and ruthless demeanor, he's a (reasonably) dedicated family man, and deep down inside you may start to suspect he actually has a heart.

Jeannie Van Der Hooven

A bright up-and-coming member of Marty's team. Jeannie is talented, crafty, flirtatious and a little mysterious. She does everything she can to keep her personal life personal and avoids all advances from Marty and the other team members. She aspires to the high-end corporate life, with the top job and the rich, country club fiancé, but she's not above doing shots off a stripper's ass and getting down and dirty with a different guy in every city she visits.

Clyde Oberholt

A young member of Marty's team and a major suck-up, Clyde is a lackadaisical consultant and a voracious womanizer. He pulls his weight at work, for sure, but he's completely preoccupied with bagging as many women as he can. He uses every weapon in his arsenal to attract them - his high profile job, his big salary, his charm, and his quick wit. He is the court jester of the team, always playing practicaljokes and trying to get dirt on his co-workers.

Doug Guggenheim

A brilliant, Harvard-educated member of Marty's team, Doug is a quintessential math geek with mad analytical skills and a big ego surrounding them, but he's hopelessly inept in the dating department. Doug is ultimately sweet and romantic, but he is so shy that he's rarely able to close the deal. This results in constant ribbing from his teammates, and a regular high-stakes competition with Clyde on scoring with women that Doug always loses.

What is it like working with Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz and Josh Lawson? It’s definitely an eclectic cast.
Great actors all of them, we have a lot of fun on this show. We improv a lot and tons of that stuff finds its way into the film cut which is great because whenever you’re in a situation like this, and you have a lot of people that can play off the work the writers are doing, it’s a real nice to have a fluent back and forth. We’re lucky to have a nice, cool, creative team. We also have a lot of guests that are coming on like Griffin Dunne, Gregg Germann and Richard Schiff. I’m happy they were able to put a lot of interesting people on the show. And the actor Josh Lawson is actually huge in Australia; he’s a newcomer here but a lot of people know him back in his hometown. - Don Cheadle

Just as an aside, is Kristin Bell as hot in person?

Actors on "Parks and Rec" are mostly comedians with improv backgrounds. What was it like working with Cheadle and Bell, who are best known for their dramatic roles?
"House of Lies" also stars Josh Lawson, who is an improviser from Australia. He and I clicked so hard. And Don Cheadle is so intensely funny in real life that he is able to catch on to any little bit you do. If we improvise, he is as quick as all of us. The amazing thing about him is that he can be hilarious, and then in the next sentence, he can make you cry. Kristen is hilarious -- if you saw "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," she was great in it. In between takes, we would all just play with each other. Our rapport has become so fun, and we've [developed] a great shorthand. I've been very fortunate. The casts on "House of Lies" and "Parks and Rec" are amazing. - Ben Shwartz

The four of us, Kristen Bell, Don Cheadle, Josh Lawson. We got along incredibly well, we all kind of like forward to seeing each other at work and we play jokes on each other and we were able to do bits with each other in between takes and just keep each other laughing the whole time. A Clyde/Jeannie hook-up? I think Clyde would love that. Clyde would go nuts, I mean, it's Kristen Bell, how gorgeous is Kristen Bell? In Clyde's eyes, Jeannie is the ultimate hook-up because she's in the pod of them four people and everybody likes her and to hook-up with her would be like hooking up with Angelina Jolie or like the hottest woman you can think of." - Ben Schwartz

When I met these three guys, the four of us, I mean we felt like a tectonic shift in the plates. It was so perfect. Just the four of us fell in love. I adore those boys. We have so much fun working together, and the rapport you see is real. We're playing the characters, but I enjoy being on set with them every single minute that I'm there. They're so much fun to work with because they're such genuinely nice people, and they're all so talented. I mean I love it. I love that I'm in scenes with all four of them all the time. So our banter is really easy. Sometimes, you know, Josh and Ben will come up with cool bits that we do on the day. I hope I get to do it for a long time because I love them. - Kristen Bell

There's talk of everything from "SpongeBob SquarePants" to the best way of ridding one's self of crabs. And when the pregnant Bell worries about how big she's getting, Cheadle lovingly refers to her as "fatty" before joking about whether it would be cheaper to replace her rather than finding new ways to disguise her pregnancy.
It would make for an excellent commentary track for the DVD release.
If only the episode were six hours long.
