I am so glad TPTB brought Jack into Shawn's life. It was so great to watch them get to know each other.

It was, & as well as Jack being a great addition overall, it gave Shawn for of the stability that he needed

^ I agree. Even though Shawn had the Matthews family and he loved them as much as they loved him, I'm sure he longed for some strong familial bonds of his own. That's why, like you said, it was a great addition to have Jack come and give him that family bond and stability that he was missing.

Shawn needed more family of his own like that, & even though it took work, it was really good for the both of them

^ Yup! Remember when Shawn said that he had a sister or when Shawn's half-brother showed up for one episode? They weren't shown or mentioned a second time. When Jack was first introduced, part of me was worried that TPTB were going to do the same thing or that they weren't going to spend that much time on them. I'm glad TPTB spent quite a bit of time developing their bond.

Yep, both those siblings were wiped out of existence after those one-offs

^ Yeah, they were. I'm glad TPTB didn't take that path with Jack. With Jack and Shawn, I immediately felt all-in with them. I thought it was going to be great to watch them bond and grow closer. It was a surprise revelation to find out that Shawn had a brother that we hadn't heard about until Jack showed up, but I'm happy that they formed that bond and made up for lost time.

You could tell it was different from the start - for one thing, Jack was in the credits, so it was obvious that he would be around for a while

For another, Jack wasn't just a throwaway comment, or a prop to bring Shawn closer to Cory, his relationship with Shawn actually was the main storyline in that ep, so the writers were taking it a lot more seriously from the start

^ Yes, that occurred to me a few posts ago.

Oh, that's a good point. When I think back on Jack's introductory episode, it did look like TPTB had put a lot of thought and effort into bringing them together.

It did, especially with how they got Chet involved too & how he pushed Shawn to try & form a relationship with Jack

^ Oh, yeah. I think Chet knew that it was important that Shawn and Jack formed that brotherly bond. There weren't that many Hunters left, and when the day came that Chet wasn't there for them anymore, he knew that they would need each other to get them through the tough days.

Yeah, & I think he hoped that Jack might be able to give Shawn a bit more of what Shawn needed in a family than Chet had ever been able to

^ Aw, I love that. I agree. I also think Chet might have thought that it would be easier for his sons to form a brotherly bond, because they hadn't grown up together. They were starting with a clean slate, which made getting to know each other and then becoming brothers a slow and smooth journey for the guys.

Yeah, & the way Chet said 'he's your brother', clearly showed that he felt like they was a bond there even though they didn't really know each other yet. They just needed time together to bring it out & make it stronger

^ That's true. They did need the time to form that brotherly bond. I'm sure Shawn and Jack would have gotten there eventually, but Chet encouraging Shawn to get to know Jack definitely fast-tracked it.
