No, really I did.

Rider/Shawn was definitely one of the main reasons that I watched the show. I started watching because I had a crush on him, but I kept watching because his character drew me in.

^ That was my experience as well. All ten girls in my class had a crush on him.

I didn't truly appreciate all of the great bits of the show until I re-watched it a few years ago.

I think it's fair to say a lot of girls had a crush on Shawn! Although I had a crush on Shawn and Eric!

^ I probably had a bit of a crush on Eric...but I know for sure I crushed hard on Shawn. Not only did I find him cute, but I also connected with him and his story. He was the character that I rooted for the most. There was something about the way he kept getting knocked down but he always found a way to get right back again that really spoke to me.

I had a crush on Shawn, Eric & Jack at different points in the show

Shawn was really endearing though, he just seemed to carry so much pain around with him, you had to root for him to find some happiness

^ That's it! I always seem to be drawn to characters that carry a lot of pain and hurt inside. And when that happens, I get even more invested in them, because I want to find out whether they deal with the pain and they find some happiness in the end.

I find myself being drawn to those type of characters too! I am glad I am not the only one!

There's just something so compelling about a wounded, misunderstood character that always draws me in.

Yes, he was. Most of the time, I focus on supporting players, and Shawn was the object of my focus for the whole series.
