I really don't know! I imagine they were comfortable & didn't have as many money worries, & if he was supporting her, maybe she was able to chase her dream of being a waitress back then

I'm sure she felt blindsided when he left and didn't come back. She must have had all kinds of different thoughts and felt all kinds of emotions during the days and weeks after that day. It was probably hard for her to pull herself together because she had to consider Maya's feelings, wants and needs.
