i like him okay, but he kind of feels like an outsider to me at this point. he needs more focus and more serious storylines for me to really like him. right now he's just the comic relief.

Which was much what Corey/Farkle was in season one, then season two he became a regular and things got deeper. Next season he'll be a regular, too, so that'll give him room to grow

Sometimes having an outsider perspective is not a bad thing either. Someone like him can look at the big picture without too much influence and see what others might miss, like when he realized Riley wasn't in her bed, or when he lectured them about what he'd heard about them from Lucas.

That's very well put. You made a good point about Farkle, he was given his time to shine in season 2 more, maybe Zay will in season 3.
