I think they should not include Derek's sister into an already bloated cast. Guest appearances are fine.

True, but understandable when you consider that he was expecting to come back from Boston engaged and instead flushed that relationship, with the future of his hospital suddenly looking just as bleak.
I know but he took out the failure with Catherine on Jackson and that was not very Chief like at all.

how can the cardio gods be total heart breakers? it's just not right!

i rewatched their scenes about five times now and truly, what a rewarding gift it was to see cristina with burke one more time. and for her to get this kind of send off... after how many failed attempts at her trying to work with the best?

and how beautiful was amos lee's version of like a virgin? such a throwback to this.

i just wish things were different for bc. i guess it will just have to be enough to know that burke still has feelings for her. i'm rather sad that cristina put on such a show about not wanting to work with burke. sigh. feels right and wrong, but i'm so happy that we got this.

Christina/Burke... My heart

Really highlights the massive fail that Owen/Cristina have been.

raphi1860 05-02-2014 06:16 AM

"tell meredith i said hello" best line.

i liked how they handled it. there's really no plausible reason for cristina to stay now. and i loved the bittersweet scenes with burke. can't wait for her remaining scenes with meredith (and with owen, too. i've always liked their tragic vibe). cristina's never been the character i've felt for most but her leaving is making me appreciate her so much more  not sure how the show's gonna do without her.

i'm totally ok with april/jackson not getting much more stuff this season, i'm not too crazy about their current storyline anyway.

At least Amelia is an interesting character (which I know is subjective). At least Shane and Leah are going, two lulls gone. I wish Stephanie and even Bailey would go. Miranda Bailey has run her course in my opinion. I hated her then I grew to love her. She's done nothing but annoy me this season. :(

She isn't really all that interesting to me and I think if she was not Derek's sister, a lot of people would be disinterested in her. IMO the cast is quite bloated and they should work with what they have. Removing characters should not mean adding some to fill up the gap. I do agree about the characters you listed though but I would even suggest every intern should have a major reduction in airtime. When Alex is not present in the episode, Jo should not get any minutes.

I am so happy that they chose to include Burke in Cristina's send off and to be honest it is fitting. She became her best, professional, in part because of Burke's influence in her life.

And yes as someone pointed out, the Burke/Cristina chemistry highlighted what a failure Cristina and Owen are.

I love that version of the song

With or without being Derek's sister, Amelia intrigues me as a character. She's good as a stand-alone character. Being Derek's sister is an added bonus.

I do agree the cast is bloated. Amelia already has a personality, a background, and a storyline. Something Stephanie, Shane, Leah, and even Jo don't really have. That's why I think she'd be a good addition to the cast, if others leave. Like I said, even Bailey bores me now. And the Richard/Catherine drama annoyed the hell out of me in 10x21. There's never a dull moment with Amelia on my screen. She's the only reason I started watching PP, tbh. I only watched seasons 1-3 so I was familiar with the other characters too.

Is anyone else getting this niggling fear that there's going to be a Japril/Calzona baby switch next season? I hope not, but why else do two baby stories at the same time? Especially when Calzona already have a baby and none of the actresses are pregnant IRL (AFAIK).

Love that Cristina is getting such a great exit though. I'm really going to miss her. :(

darkxtwisty 05-02-2014 10:51 AM

I think Callie is going to find out she can't get pregnant.

Spoiler:

So either Arizona decides to carry the baby or they adopt.

anna_eclectic 05-02-2014 11:11 AM

Just watched the episode again.
Loved it again :D

Cristina and Owen pale in comparison to Burke and her.

The twin separation was symbolic of Meredith and Cristina. Annie let the other one go.
Sad :(

Alwayshappy 05-02-2014 11:46 AM

While I never really loved Burke I was really glad with how they gave us AND Christina closure. I really didn't expect him to be married...so that was surprise number 1. Surprise number 2 was that he was ready to give Christina his hospital. Amazing. Sandra Oh was terrific. ''Ok, Now I'm Done''. It just spoke a lot. She finally has some closure with Burke. It was GREAT. If this is the send-off she is going to get I will be quite happy with it. Burke's ''Tell Meredith I said Hi'' line made me laugh, lol.

That said...that last Meredith/Christina scene was so sad! I don't know if I will be able to handle them apart next season :( It's going to be so different! I say it every week, but I really hope Meredith stays in contact with Christina over the phone. We won't see or hear Christina, but I want to hear they are still in touch, and I want to know how she is doing. Curious for the last two episodes. Im sure it will focus on Meredith/Christina, and Christina/Owen so I cannot wait. What will her last scene with Meredith be like? I will bawl!

For that reason I want Amelia to stay. I watch PP aswell, and Amelia is such an interesting character. I want her next season. She has something dark and twisty about her...something Meredith will need once Christina is not in range every day again.

April and Jackson were cute. Sure their problems will rise next season, but I think they are taking the back bumper the coming weeks. It will focus on Mer/Christina, Christina/Owen, Mer/Der's home situation ( With Amelia ), and Bailey's work. That's what I think anyway.

darkxtwisty 05-02-2014 12:11 PM

I agree. Amelia can fill the "dark and twisty" void that Cristina's absence will create. I think it's actually essential they add Amelia as a regular. Otherwise the show will definitely feel emptier than it already will without Cristina. Amelia's the only person who can even come close to filling that empty space.

posterity 05-02-2014 03:30 PM

I completely disagree. Cristina is probably the most popular character on the show and Amelia is a guest star. She cannot even begin to fill the void and unless numerous characters are leaving WITHOUT replacement, I see no need to add another character to the cast.

Johnnie 05-02-2014 04:16 PM

Cristina is probably my favourite character on the show as well. I know she is going to another hospital, but I do wonder if she will make any guest star appearances in the future, like how she was on the phone with Meredith when she was working elsewhere back in Season 9.

Totally didn't expect to see Burke in this episode... Of course I didn't see the preview either, though I recognized his voice right away.
