Chicago Med star Arden Cho has urged her social media followers to get involved in stopping anti-Asian hate crimes and discrimination after enduring a horrific attack.

The 35-year-old actress is a familiar face to viewers of the NBC medical drama as Ethan's estranged sister Emily, and also had a recurring role in Teen Wolf as the Thunder Kitsune Kira.

Earlier this week, Arden experienced a deeply disturbing series of events while walking her dog when she was called a racial slur and warned that a passer-by would kill both her and her pet.

Arden shared these traumatic details on her Instagram page to show the ways in which Asian people are being terrorised by racist bullies in the most mundane of circumstances.

"I haven't been this scared in years," she wrote to her followers. "He was a couple feet away and started coming towards me. I grabbed Chewy [dog] and ran as fast as I could. I'm not crying anymore, but I'm still scared, I'm still shaking."

Arden explained that although she is able to defend herself and carries a knife because she's a night runner, this abusive incident has deeply shaken her.

"I'm young and fit, I shouldn't be scared but I am," she acknowledged. "All my trauma as a kid has been coming back as I watch our elders get beaten up and killed.

"I've been kicked in the face till I was unconscious and hospitalized, I was only a kid. I didn't realise how much that incident shaped my life. How much fear I've always lived with."

While sharing that her mother is scared to even go outside following a global rise in anti-Asian violence, Arden asked those reading her statement to "please help" in stopping racism.

BTS recently shared a powerful statement sharing their own experiences with racism, expressing their "grief and anger" over the recent rise in injuries and deaths.

"We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together," the band said.

The United Nations has also led calls for world governments to do more about the alarming rise of violence, saying that its Secretary General António Guterres "stands in solidarity with all those who face racism and other assaults on their human rights".

There has been a 300% increase in hate crimes against East and Southeast Asians in the UK, according to UK police data.

Paranormal Activity's next big screen instalment has kicked off the casting process.

According to The Wrap, this newly-announced continuation of the ghostly franchise will star Emily Bader (Charmed), Roland Buck III (Chicago Med), Dan Lippert (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Henry Ayres-Brown (The Deuce).

Underwater director Will Eubank is calling the shots on this seventh Paranormal Activity, which has a scheduled release date of March 4, 2022 and is the first entry in the film series since 2015's The Ghost Dimension.

Plot details are unknown at the time of writing, but rest assured there'll be some terrifying bumps in the night.

Screenwriter/executive producer Christopher Landon previously teased on Twitter: "I'm really excited for this — mainly because no one could possibly guess what new, crazy nightmares ⁦@superswift and I are cooking up. Expect the unexpected."
