Both I guess. Wouldn't that be sooo super cool if Cary's dad turned out to be this Irish gangster with a broken nose & everything! I'm super-excited about that idea now!!

It would be a great arc for Cary's character.

I almost want someone who is kind of unknown...but I can't think of who!

And sometimes I think Cary fans could do a better work with his storylines than writers
I think LM'd be cool because he's so unexpected and it would surely breathe some life into the story since LM is an amazing actor (IMO) and would change it up. Just his mere presence and energy and the chemestry of him in the role of Cary's dad would be well worth the watch IMO. It would be awesome.

I get that but with the way the character is now I just think they need to do something to shake it up & someone like Liam would definitely do that.

Boys, maybe I wasn't clear. They've casted him yet. It's John Shea

I think it's not matter of who they cast. It's more matter of scripts. They need a good storyline to shake it up. Plus I admit I want that storyline being focused on Cary's character and Matt, more than on his father or the actor who plays him so a less famous actor could work better.

I don't like John Shea so I want to ignore that fact. Just saw the articles so I guess it is official.

Honestly it's not that I don't like JS it's just that the "energy" level of actors is so low that I just wish they would have chosen a more enigmatic actor to come in and lively the story arc up.

With JS as Cary's father I already know which type of person he'll be: Hard, distant, questioning of Cary, and never quite proud of him. He'll have a questionable nature & be droning on about achievements and success and contacts. SNORE.

With an actor like Liam there would be more energy and charisma to that. So I think the choice of actor as Cary's father speaks volumes of what's to come. And I don't believe it will be positive.

Should I be happy they made an effort?

I wasn't bitching about anything, and just commenting about why that casting choice could work and my post was deleted...

I'm kind of ambiguous about Dax. I like him on Parenthood from what I've seen of that. I've heard great stuff about the movie he's directed 'Hit & Run' though so they could be good working together on something like that.

It's OK sweets. I re-read my post & it might come off off-topic w the TGW talk - wasn't my intention - I was just trying to put it in the context of my feelings with the actor as Cary's dad & a co-star w Matt. As a mod you have to put us back in line.

I just generally meant that from what I've seen of JS he's not very enigmatic & he typically does the same type-casting and that bores me. I've seen him as Lex Luthor but even then I have to say that I liked Michael Rosenbaum's and even Gene Hackman's interpretations better personally. He'll pobably do a good job though so we'll just have to wait & see. I can be such an actor snobb sometimes.

I am a actor snobb too but I trust our casting department and I can always complain when i saw it too, for now I just wait and see where it goes

Agrees.

I feel like suggesting Liev Schreiber but I don't know why. But there it is. .
