Yeah, it doesn't really make sense that they didn't become friendlier or closer considering that not only did they have Ryan and Summer in common, but also their taste in music and reading. That hug in the season 3 finale was awkward.

They were actually surprised, especially Seth. There are a couple of scenes that portrayed that. It seemed like they were going to become friends, but who knows why the writers changed their minds.

Josh was pretty ADD in the first season after the first seven episodes- he kept bouncing around, the plot wasn't as tightly written.
