This opened at #71 at the US boxoffice over the weekend from only one theater with a total of $5,948.

That sounds like not very much, but for a single screen, that's actually decent.

Finally watched this. Very heavy topic and it is almost unbelievable that such a tragedy was allowed to occur.

Very well made, very well acted, and clearly a really important story.

I won't speak to the movie itself so much cause I'm still kind of impacted by the imagery. So I'll just touch on Mischa for a sec.

I'm happy she was able to be part of a story like this, but as most of the reviews allude to, her character is truly pointless. She appears for a few scenes that are grouped together. But the character doesn't bring anything to the film at all. Which is extremely odd since they go to the effort of setting up why she's in Bhopal in the first place, but then she just leaves.

I feel like they must have done a lot cutting from the original script. Cause I know that in the original trailer, Mischa was shown to have filmed scenes where she's been aged 30 years. None of this showed up in the movie.

It appears her scenes were kept in mainly for marketing to Western audiences. Which is fine, but on such an important topic, it would have been nice if she at least had a purpose. Even if that was to simply show how she was the first Western reporter to break the story internationally or something - but because her presence is never mentioned again, we see her and then nothing happens.

Even just one 20 second scene showing the character's regret for not writing about the disaster or something would have gone along way.

It's kind of funny since even Martin Sheen and Kal Penn could be plucked from the movie and I don't think it would detract from the story at all. The strength of this film is all on the Indian cast.

I thought it was so weird that that later scene was cut! Because both Mischa and Martin had mentioned it IIRC.

It makes me wonder if there was a lot more content that all the American cast had filmed that we won't get to see.
