True, but I don't think their relationship was the reason why we didn't get it since I'm sure we would have if James and Sophia weren't dating at that time.

It still wasn't as weird as Brooke and Nathan, lol. But it was weird. Mark was so bad at actually SHOWING relationships. Even with characters' own parents. He needed to show us Haley's mother AT SOME POINT in like five years if we were expected to give a **** that she died, lol.

Given the time jump, I just remember going "...Have we had solid confirmation she's seen this woman more than twice in like a decade?" It's not a good foundation for that kind of storyline.

And even THAT was lazy. Mark could have had Haley be thrown because she'd been isolated from her mother, because they didn't have much of a relationship and hadn't for some time. It can still be very difficult to lose a parent under those circumstances. Just...too complex for his crap writing.
