@buffalowingfactory (this place was seriously the coolest in high school. I don’t know how I got a job there, but even twenty years later, it’s a feather in my cap!) provided a super fun potluck dinner for our #parkviewpatriots football team tonight to get them pumped up for the game this Friday! The bravery these kids are showing, rebuilding a program from the ground up, is amazing to me.
Fun fact. Around 25 of the 74 players had never played the sport before. So with all these eyes watching them, those kids are boldly trying new things and laying the groundwork for future students to have solid extracurriculars at our school. I am so incredibly proud of them.
Here’s another fun fact.
Ticket sales for events like this are a MAJOR source of revenue for public schools. So the rich schools pull in thousands and thousand of extra dollars each year, while the less affluent schools are left to compete with a fraction of those funds.
