I don't even think it should be a question of how happy she would've been if she ended with Jake. The only issue for Jake and Peyton was the timing not how much they loved each other. It seemed a lot of the time they have torn apart because of Jake needing to protect his daughter and since they were in high school, Jake never wanted to bring Peyton down with him.

Well we wouldn't want her being with someone and not being happy. I think Jake should have let Peyton decide what was best for her.

Peyton wanted to be with him no matter what, even when he was leaving to find Nikki, she wanted to go with him, but he wouldn't let her

It did, but he loved her too much & wanted her to have as much a normal life as she could

Well, it wasn't like he was super controlling about it. You need to rewatch the scene, because there's nothing about it that makes it feel like Jake is taking that choice away from her & Peyton actually thanks him when he leaves.
