Anything but a love triangle! I think they could've continued on with having Lucas struggling with his muse since the breakup with Peyton (I would've kept that the same, it made for good present day conflict). And Peyton having the same conflict in LA. I think they could have easily gone along with the first half of s5 drama without LL. Having Lucas being uneasy/uncertain/hurt by Peyton's return and trying to be her friend, like they were before. But that wouldn't really work since he still loves her and he's hurting. I think they could've showed them trying to move on without them truly moving on. I read a good fic once that had Lucas being a father to Lily and being reluctant to let Peyton back in. That would've been good conflict as well. I just would've liked to see them gradually rebuild their friend and end s5 with them reuniting for good this time.

That sounds pretty great actually, but I would have wanted them to get back together before the end of S5 and I also would have changed what they broke up over.

^ What would you have had them break up over? I think it made sense that they were at different points in their lives/relationships and didn't want the same things--yet. Not to mention it was refreshing to see a couple on this show break up over internal issues instead of external ones.

That could have easily broken up over the distance imo, plus I always wanted only one proposal for them.

I guess at that point, it made the most sense for them instead of just distance. I can't see Lucas letting go so easily unless Peyton shattered his heart.

It was pretty easy for Peyton to do that though, as that kinda proved too

How else do you see that happening?

He could just feel like that Peyton is more concerned about making her dreams come true and not enough about their relationship.

^ Hey, long time no see. I haven't watched any scenes in a while either.
Sam, I think if Peyton had actively pushed Lucas away and closed herself off to him again, he would've left her alone. But I think she had to be the one to break things off in some way. __________________

^ I think he was kinda feeling that way in S5, since he definitely felt like he was losing her before he proposed.

Yeah, in my head canon before s5 started, Peyton pulled away from him again and he was in TH pining for her.

Yeah, mine too. I didn't really see the point of their relationships with Julian and Lindsay either, so that's something that I would have avoided if I could have.

For sure. It was just a waste of screentime and added nothing new to either character or their story. As much as I dislike the BLP triangle, it made more sense to me than the LLP one.

It really was, plus either relationship came close filling the vacant hole in their hearts.
