Alexa is probably right as far as which seasons tie as the most underrated. I think there's a lot of talk about s5 but people either love or hate it, it seems. s2 gets overlooked because there weren't a lot of scenes until the end of the season. Which we all know that I personally liked the buildup back to their friendship in s2 but I digress.

I personally would have enjoyed their friendship got more focus and the BL/JP stuff didn't happen.

In a sense they were but they could've been with anyone else for that to be true.

I do agree that season 2 isn't underrated in terms of LP and their story as a relationship. Because i think we all agree that season was the worst. lol.

But I just mean in terms of friendship scenes. The few that we did get were pretty meaningful scenes. When he gives her that chocolate!

Season 2 didn't have much build up to me, I mean, we got that scene where they decided they wanted to be friends again and then we got some stuff but at least it was explained sort of that LP weren't friends and thats why they weren't interacting. Peyton says it in 210, that Lucas hasn't really been there for her. So at least it wasn't just ignored and brushed over. The characters admitted they had lost each other.

^ There's a lot of reading between the lines with LP in s2 but I think there were plenty of nuggets left in that season for fans and it was followed up on in s3. And CH always had a natural, honest chemistry that just made LP work. That's certainly true in s2, the way they look at each other in their scenes together says a lot even if the scenes were short or whatever.

Sam, I wouldn't have minded seeing them grow as characters, alone either but that never happens on teen soaps. Or on a lot of shows in general so OTH isn't unique in that sense.

The triangle in s1 didn't really bother me as much as it did after that. Because it was clear that LP's feelings were there through the whole season and there really weren't any grey areas in that. But I didn't like the cheating storyline even though it wasn't intentional on either of their parts. They made it seem like BL were in a serious relationship when their relationship wasn't portrayed that way and the same with BP being bff's forever was mentioned during that which I didn't sense prior to that.

Why didn't you like the cheating in S1?

Not a fan of cheating storylines in general since I don't condone it, in real life or on television. But I understand why it happened with LP and still like their scenes in 1x12-1x15. I just would've preferred to see BL breakup before seeing LP kiss again in s1. Plus that's kind of what kept LP apart for so long, they were afraid to hurt Brooke again.

No, it never made sense to me that they suddenly had this long history as best friends. I think they should've just built up to that instead of it being the way it was. I think that was partly done to drive a wedge between LP for so long.

Personally, I always felt it was an mistake to suddenly make them best friends and it would have been better for both characters if they didn't.
