The smilies thread has been popular. It helps familiarize people with our smilies, and is a quick & easy post for people looking to achieve their posting goals.

I really like the idea of changing Testimonials to "You know you're obsessed".

Updated the OP.

I can understand why posters may think our Smiley thread is boring and it brings no purpose to the board but for other posters it is a good thread to boost their posting count. It's also a way of expressing how they feel to others. I enjoy seeing it myself :)

I'm keen on your idea about changing the Testimonials thread. Clever idea :)

Would anybody else like to throw in some ideas about this?

They would be gratefully appreciated. :)

I had another idea for a thread that would be great for getting to know people and :ff: better. I notice that some boards, once in a while do 'scavenger hunt' style games where clues are hidden on other boards on multiple threads, but maybe we could create a scavenger hunt style game for :ff: members that are about rules, where to find the answer to such and such a question.

There can be five questions per week, ten in total.

5 questions for :ff: members who are more familiar with the board and 5 questions that are a bit easier for the newer members still finding their way around. Maybe even link it in the "Finding your first :ff: friend" thread as a way to help them explore more.

So a sample question for a more experienced member could be:

1) Which board's web address contains 'f20' in the name?

Answer: Info Centre Board

A sample question for a newer member could be:

1) In the drop down menu at the top of your screen (easy access to go to another board), what is the second board listed?

Answer: Requests

I hope this makes sense and I'm not just rambling! :wiggle:

^ This is similar to the Name the Board game that we already have except this one gives us 3 clues to guess the board. I personally like this game but not a lot of members join and it doesn't appeal much to the newbies.

I thought it was a little similar, but the part about it that I don't like is how after you've made a guess, if you're wrong, you can't guess again, although you can ask questions.

I stopped playing for that reason and it also can take the person running the current round awhile to update their answers, which can lead people to leave the thread, another reason I've tended to stray elsewhere.

Just wanted to mentionout those points. Not speaking for everyone of course. :nod:

BlackSapphire 02-11-2016 01:10 PM

I'm sorry you feel that way about the game, Millie :)

I do feel that as much as your suggestion is clever and a good one, that it's similar to Name The Board game, plus that game thread has also declined recently.
I need to have a think about this more clearly.

Mi||iê Måë 02-11-2016 05:55 PM

It's hard to keep games motivational sometimes. :nod:

You do have a point, Millie Mae, about the Name the Board game that it can take a while for people to update and that we're only allowed 1 guess.

Tbh, I don't know how else to revive that game even if we can make tweaks to it. It seems to me that people are more inclined to post if it's a quick one versus having to think (in regards to a game). For example, I like the Six Degrees game that some boards have but that also takes time and so it's the least popular game around.

^^ Six degrees is one of my favourite games as well, but I know what you mean, some don't always want to take the time it can take to play a game, so the quick post ones win over. :nod:

Agree with you there.

Millie - I like the idea of tweaking the Name the Board game so people can guess more than once.

Thanks Chris, hopefully we can find a happy medium that will be fun for all! :)

Any more suggestions before the deadline on Friday? :flowers:

Mi||iê Måë 02-18-2016 05:34 AM

Nothing else from me at least, but I hope others might have a few last minute ideas to share! :wiggle:

BlackSapphire 02-18-2016 07:19 AM

Any more suggestions would be appreciated. This is all for you guys, to make it more interesting, more fun and most importantly to make our posters (especially our new ones) feel welcome.

Would love to read some more! Don't be shy :)
