It's been a long time since I registered here, so I don't remember: is it normal that it's been three days and still the confirmation email hasn't arrived? A person I know is still waiting

Have them check their junk mail. Or if you let me know the user name, I can search for the account.

Moving a thread from one board to another in order to receive better traffic and recognition, is that against rules and how do you manage that?

Only the moderator of the board or a manager can move threads to other boards. You should PM the moderator of the board where the thread currently exists, and explain why you think it would benefit from being moved to a different board Or you could just start a new thread on the board where you think the thread will attract more attention.

You're quite welcome. It never hurts to have threads at more than one board. Some people have their routines as to which boards they visit, so it might attract different people.

Hey guys, I have a question I've been meaning to ask for some time, and I don't know if this is the right place to ask it, but could anyone advise me if there's a way to find out when both my boards opened? Completely understand if it's impossible to find out now, but I've been yearning to know at least the year in which both my boards opened. I know there was a serious crash that happened a few years before I joined in which many posts and threads were lost. And both boards were around when it happened. As of now, the pages only go back to 2004 at both boards, I'm presuming some of the many lost posts and threads were salvaged, yet I know that both boards had been around before then. It would be nice to have a clearer time of when they opened so we could have anniversary celebrations, which I don't think we've had for either board before, just posting celebrations.

I've been looking at the Way Back Machine and that only goes back to 2006. Is there any other way to find out, or is that just lost now?

For future reference, you can find a list of when boards were opened here.

Quote:
Disney (2002 - January to August)

Tom Welling (2003 February)
It's difficult to find out when the earlier boards were opened as we didn't maintain a list back then. Also the link to Tom Welling shows the 24 board as the link for TW is not archived anymore but more or less the board was opened back then.

Ah, thanks Lindsay. It's helpful to at least have a little time frame of when they both opened, even if we don't have the exact date. For Disney, I saw the pages went back to May 2002 and it was kept in Temporary until Jan/Feb 2003. Depending on how long boards were kept under temporary until they were added permanently, my guess would probably been that it opened March/April 2002?

It's great to know the Tom Welling Board opened in February 2003, it's helpful to know the month and year. I used the search engine for 5th February 2003, and looking at the list of forums it existed then, so it's likely it was opened between the 1st and the 5th. That will make it 20 years old next year, so it will be nice to hold an anniversary then.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!

Another way to get a ballpark idea is to look at the boards added before and after the one you're interested in, and see if the moderators there made note of when the board was opened. This isn't foolproof because occasionally forum numbers were reused.

Star Trek is forum 89 and I know it was added December 3, 2001
Reese Witherspoon - https://www.fanforum.com/f97/
Disney - https://www.fanforum.com/f98/
Star Wars - https://www.fanforum.com/f99/

^^ And, you can also go and look in the oldest Board Guide you can find for a particular forum. Sometimes the Mods at the time added the date it was opened.

Thanks for the extra advice Chris and Betty. I've checked the old Reese board and it looks like they didn't have any note of when that board opened. It's harder to check Star Wars 'cause there's so many pages to go through to find the first board guide.

I have looked at my own boards old/first guides but either they were originally lost or no one made a guide until a few years later after they were opened, either way as far as I can see no one made a note of the original opening date. I think the older the board is, the more difficult it is to track the date, especially if no one made a note.

The months written in that list refer to the month when each board won the poll? Because for example my board says November, but the first posts were made on December 1st, that's why I tend to consider December as the opening month.
