a friend of mine had a bad insomnia spell for about almost 8 months. she saw this self-help video somewhere that said when you have huge trouble sleeping, no matter what is going on inside your head and life, you have to find another place to sleep, at least temporarily, but obviously still in your house. here are some suggestions from the video that she told me in a conversation

1. hanging a hammock in another room, and making a sleep zone around it.

2. a nice comfy sleeping-bag surrounded by piles of blankets and stuffed animals or anything squeezable and cuddly, in another room of course. the idea here is that your taking a sleep vacation from your normal bedroom/sleeping arrangement.

3. in another room, building a tent of blankets with a fan blowing underneath, creating the illusion of sheets on a clothesline, something soothing. or even setting up an actual tent in a room. don't laugh sometimes you have to do crazy things to fix a crazy situation.

4. moving to another bedroom if you have spares, maybe completely changing your nightly routine is what helps, then changing back to the old room once you are comfortably sleeping for a bit.

would any of these suggestions help? i personally did the fan blowing under blankets/sheets tent thing, when i first moved to my house, because i had trouble sleeping in a new place. i slept good inside that tent for a month, until i bought a new bed and finished painting.

All I have is my bed, or my 15 yr old IKEA loveseat to sleep on, or my recliner chair which is not laying down. I wish I could have an indoor hammock, that would be cool! A tent would be cool but I’ve seen enough spiders scuttle across my floor to not want to sleep on it

So I don’t think I have options for another bedroom or place to sleep, but I got some sleep capsules so I can force getting knocked out thanks for those suggestions!

An indoor hammock would definitely be fun! I just have my bed or my couch.

Chris, my dinner was great! I went over to a friend’s after and played games.
